Book List

I loved Elana's idea about the book list and so I started one also. It is on the side bar there. Check it out!

This just makes me laugh

What is wrong with me?

So for the past couple of days my mouth has been hurting way back in the back. I thought that it would go away but today it seemed a lot worse. By the end of the day I could barely eat and my face looked a little swollen on that side. So at 8:40 I decided to go to the urgent care. It closed at 9pm. They were nice enough to take me at closing time and so I saw the doctor. He took one look in my mouth and said " wow, you have a very big canker sore in there." That's it, I have a canker sore? I cannot believe something so trivial as that is causing me so much pain. He did say that it must hurt pretty bad and that made me feel better about it. I can handle pain pretty good but this is so irritating. I think the worst part is that it hurts so much to eat. So, he gave me some antibiotics, told me to swish with salt water as often as I can, and to take some advil and it should get better. I sure hope it does because this is getting really irritating. I was secretly hoping for something a little more real to be wrong so that I could maybe take a sick day in bed and not feel guilty but I guess I should be happy I am really fine. Just a stupid canker sore!

Tennesse!!

We are here in Tennesse visiting some friends. They moved here last summer from California and we came to see their new house and town and life. The flight out here with the kids was a dream. I cannot believe how good they did. I was actually the one that had the most problems. I got so motion sick that I thought I was going to really throw up. Thankfully I did not but it was not very fun. We got here on Friday night and today we hung out at their house. They live in this really cool neighborhood where everyone knows each other and the kids just play outside all day. There are not really any fences and the kids play in each others yards and everything. It is a really nice concept. Then we went to Nashville and looked around a little bit. The things that we have noticed that are the most different so far:

* There are so many churches!
* It is really, really green
* There is a lot of music stuff and music people
* There are a lot of Christians, "I guess that is why they call it the Bible belt"
* The people are really friendly

We are having a great time visiting and being with friends. The kids are playing a bunch and just fall into bed at night. The guys are out watching a movie and I am going to go to bed.

ME

This picture really looks like "me". It was taken at the beach, I was with my family, and I am drinking coffee. All the things that I really enjoy. The only thing missing is a good book.

A few things that I have discovered about myself:

1. I do not really like book clubs. I thought that I would because I love to read but I have discovered that I do not like having my reading controlled. Reading is my escape and I love to do it. I have some weird things about my reading. I have to read before I go to bed. If I try to go to sleep without reading I just lay there awake until I read, even just a little bit. I can have a couple of books going at one time but they have to be different types of books. I also have a weird time thing where I like to end a chapter at an even time like 10 or 10:15 or 10:30 but not 10:25. Weird I know. That last part has slacked a bit since I had kids.

2. I love, love coffee. It tastes so good first thing in the morning. It is also the treat that I have if I happen to be out without my kids. I love to sit and have coffee with a friend while we talk and if I am with my extented family we will be drinking it all day long. My great-great grandpa is quoted as saying " that's what I like, a good hot cup of coffee" I must get it from him. Now that I have kids and my coffee drinking gets interupted so much I will put my cup in the microwave , sometimes a couple of times to reheat my coffee before I finish it. I like it really hot.

3. I really like being a mom. I have been one now for 5 years almost 5 and a half and I feel like I am finally gettting the hang of it. I have my hard days but I truly believe that this is what I was made to do. I like being my own boss, well if you ask my two year old she might say she is the boss. I like that there are not any dress codes. I like being here for all the little cute things my kids say and do. I just really like it.

4. I like having friends. I like that I have many different friends from different places. Married, single, kids, no kids, friends I have had forever and new friends. I think that the people in our lives bring so much that changes us and helps create who we are and who we become.

I am 27 years old and I feel like I am still discovering so many things about myself. It is just little things but still, it makes me wonder if it will always be like this. Are you always discoving new things about yourself?

Mexico

So, I had a wonderful time in Mexico with my friend, Vanessa. We did so much in the four days that we were there. We swam in the ocean and the pool. We ate wonderful Mexican food. We went snorkeling and saw some great fish. We even saw dolphins on our boat ride out to the place to snorkel called Los Arcos. Vanessa is a great friend to go on a trip with. She is up for anything and she pushes me to get out of my comfort zone. We explored a lot and tryed to use our very limited Spanish. I really love Mexico and the people. They are so sweet and friendly. I went to Costco when I got back and I found myself wanting to talk to people there because that is what we did in Mexico but here if you do that people think you are crazy. I think I might just do it anyway because I think we need to be more friendly and helpful.

We got shaved ice that was really yummy. They put this custard type thing on the top and it makes it soooo good.

This was our "big night out" We got dressed up ( can you tell) and went out to dinner. We tryed to find this seafood restaurant that we were told about but we could not find it. Instead we found this other restaurant that our friend , Stacy, told us was good. She also said that the margaritas are " as big as your head"

And as you can see by this picture they really were.

After our big dinner that was so good we walked down to the main square and watched these guys perform. They were like clowns that were putting on this random show. It was funny even though we only understood some of it. The guy that did fire was pretty incredible.

So, overall it was a really great trip. I felt so relaxed when I came home. I was really ready to see my family but it was a nice feeling. They had a good time with their dad and were not to sad about me being gone. I really, really love Mexico. I love the people and the food. I love the culture and the language. Next time I want to take my family so that they can experience it also.
