Stay at home mom time cards

Have you ever wished that you kept a time card like people that go to work do? After a day like today where I have had a child with me at all times since 7AM and it is now 9PM and I am finally off duty (unless someone wakes up). It makes me wish that I could tell people that I just worked 14 hours straight, no breaks, no lunch break, no bathroom breaks (if you don't count it a break when someone is there talking to you and asking questions the whole time).I want to have the sympathy that is given to someone who has worked that long day and is tired. I want to know that it has been acknowledged that I really put in some long hours, some hard work, above and beyond. But the truth is that I will go to bed, wake up in the morning and do it all over again. I love it, don't get me wrong. I would not want to be doing anything else. It is the most satisfying thing that I could spend my days doing. The thing that bugs me is that when I am at a work party with my husband and someone asks what I do. I kind of cringe. I never know how to answer that question. So I end up saying something like, " Oh, I stay home with the kids" and the other person always says something about how that is a very important job and then moves on. I wish that I had a better title for what I do, something like, child development coordinator, house manager, chef, nurse, teacher, child behavior trainer, and referee, then they might understand what it is that I really spend my days doing.

I know what you mean Jessie! I have to 'explain' what I 'do' too! A new 'title' would be great! lol
Love & hugs,

i totally know what you're saying!! i always feel like i work 12 to 13 hours a day, and am on call the remaining 11 or 12 hours a day... and some people don't get it!
when i fractured my leg a while back my doctor said "oh good, you stay home so you should be able to take it nice and easy!" i wanted to laugh and be angry all at the same time!! it would be so much easier if i went to 'work' all day to take it easy than home with a (at the time) 11 month old!!
i once heard stay-at-home moms refered to as CFOs- chief family officers, and also (my favorite) child development specialist... now that sounds like a real job!! ha ha.

I always think how weird it is that it doesn't seem like being a mom is a "job" to some people, (maybe those who don't have kids?) but if I wasn't doing it, I'd have to pay someone to do it.
